Project Sticker Shock 2009 |

We are looking for a few good TEENS to help with this project!
The Project:
Greenfield Youth Services is looking for 10 teens (ages 16- 19) to work on a project called “sticker shock” during the months of July and August 2009.
A team of teenagers will be trained in social norms marketing as well as the importance of preventing underage drinking. Teens will also review Franklin County data regarding actual substance abuse rates for their peers.
Together, a sticker campaign will be designed to be used in local package and convenience stores. Stickers will have messages meant to encourage adults to NOT buy and provide alcohol for minors. Teens will also conduct a survey process to determine how effective their message was.

It's Spring at Greenfield Youth Services |
Spring is here and the youth and volunteers with Greenfield Youth Services are out in the community. In April we had outside cleanup days for both the Youth Center and the Skate Park. Our adult volunteers worked with our youths to rake leaves, sweep sidewalks and skate surfaces, repair fences, and plant gardens.
Our youth community service program has been working on park cleanup projects at the following locations: Murphy Park, the Greenfield Swimming and Recreation Area, Highland Pond and Trails, and the Skate Park.
On May 7th we began our effort to increase use and awareness of bicycle and skateboarding helmets. Through a grant with the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and a partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Greenfield, we distributed 40 helmets to Greenfield kids in 1 hour. We are working to secure more helmets to meet the need.
We are working on plans for summer family events, opportunities for Greenfield Teens, and entertainment activities at both facilities.
Stay tuned! |
